Good

This was a lot better than I thought it would be. The singing was all very good, the scenic design was amazing, and I met the cast after the show and they were all really nice people. A good experience, but not an INCREDIBLE show.

It was OKAY

The Little Mermaid Broadway Show was a very exciting broadway show. I think the acting was great. The whole cast did a great job on their parts. Suprisingly, my little sister didn't fall asleep during the show like she would do on many other shows. However, I didn't like how they changed the story and took out lots of the important parts. I would probably come back do watch the show again because it was very fun and funny.

Everyone can enjoy Disney's magical new musical!
Review by: , Jul 31, 2008

I just saw this yesterday, and I enjoyed it thoroughly! The music is fun, the sets are breathtaking, the acting was flawless, and the singing was fantastic! Sierra Boggess portrayed Ariel perfectly, capturing her innocence and headstrong behavior. Her facial expressions were outstanding, and her singing was pitch perfect. Sherie Rene Scott does not disappoint as Ursula. Her comedic timing is right on the mark and her voice is incredible. She's a ... read more lot of fun to watch. Norm Lewis was great as King Triton and has an amazing voice. He completely becomes his character on stage. Titus Burgess made a great Sebastian with his great accent and voice. Trevor Braun was adorable as Flounder (but he only does the matinees). Everyone was perfectly casted! The important thing for people to remember about this show is that it's Disney. It's for kids, so the story does not have a lot of depth to it and moves quickly so as to keep the kids' attention. Also, it's a musical that takes place under water half of the show, and they do not use a lot of wire work and no water at all. It's all based on visuals and the imagination (and you do need a little bit of one for this show). However, I think that this is a production that the whole family can and will enjoy!

VERY UPSETTING

Being that I was a huge little mermaid fan I must say, I was extremely disappointed!! I, as well, have never left a broadway musical disappointed. The girl casted as Ariel did a good job...Sebastian was fantastic! King Triton's voice was too young to play the part. They completely deleted the most important scene when Eric gets hypnotized by Ursula and gets married to the pretty Ursula just because of her voice. Also, how do you ... read more delete the scene where Ariel tried to ruin Eric's wedding. Also, when Eric and Ariel are about to kiss on the boat...instead of tipping it over like it was in the movie, they changed it and had the eels zap the boat with lightening. They shouldn't have been able to change scenes according to their liking. They could have taken out other unecessary scenes and put in the most important ones.
Plus the lady playing Ursula, although good, was wrong for this character. In the movie Ursula is fat with a raspy, scary, witchy voice! The woman they casted was super skinny and had a soft, delicate beautiful voice! SOOOOOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED!!!

Disney's magic comes to life

I saw the Little Mermaid today and here are my thought. First off I bought Middle Mez. Tickets and there were railing in front of us making it hard to see. So i suggest you get tickets either in the lower mez. or orchestra. Okay so anyways, the scenery throughtout the show was magnificent and absolutly breath taking. The actress who played Ariel was very good, as was sebastian, the chef, ursula, and the rest of the cast. However I felt ... read more King Triton was not tough enough, so i was not impressed with him, however he didnot ruin the show for me or anything. The music was very good, and i did not have a problem with sabastians costume at all. Also i would like to add that the child who plays flounder is absolutly adorable. The wheelies didnot bother me although one of ariel's sisters took a nice fall at the end of the show. Overall It was definitly an enjoyable experience. The only thing that bothered me was the screaming children. There were tons of screaming 2 year olds not quite ready to enjoy theater. There are "scary" parts so I would say 5 and up would enjoy this show. Lastly, compared to other disney shows on broadway in my opinion was my second favorite. My favorite was Beauty and the Beast, followed by this, then lion king, then mary poppins, then tarzan. I would recommend this show to you.

40 from Montana loved every moment of The Little Mermaid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review by: mom from MT, Jun 4, 2008

As part of a group of 30 senior high school kids (girls and boys) and 10 adult chaperones, most of us attended our first and only Broadway show in mid-March. I was thrilled to be going and was NOT disapponted in The Little Mermaid. I am 50 and I have to tell you I was absolutely, positively spellbound the ENTIRE time. I don't know what was more magical, the sets, the costumes the voices, the choreography, the music, the special effects/lights.... read more. I felt as though I was looking through a giant sized aquarium with all the old characters I loved while watching the movie with my daughter--now almost 18. It was truly one of the wonderful parts of our 4 days in NYC and it was loved by all that attended, even the big tough boys who weren't thrilled knowing they would be going to this show--til they experienced it!!!!. We all raved and talked about it all the way back to Jersey to our motel rooms. Thanks for a truly wonderful experience. Nothing else will ever compare to what I experienced in that theatre and it is a memory my daughter and I will hold dear! The mermaids were quite believable to me---I thought the costuming for them was the BEST--tails, heelys, and all!

The best Birthday gift ever!!!!
Review by: Dulcemia, May 20, 2008

I went to go see "The Little Mermaid" for my birthday on May 17 and I loved every minute of the show. The actors were all spectacular and is a night I'll never forget. I went with my Mother & daughters (ages 7 & 15). They were very excited and had a blast. My Mom thought Eric the Prince was sooooo handsome. I've always loved the Disney Character Ariel. I loved Ursula and my daughter thought her costume and her persona was scary.... read more. Now I'm telling the rest of my family to go. Well worth seeing. Sebastian & Flounder rocks!!!
