British Youth Opera: La Rondine/Flight

About British Youth Opera: La Rondine/Flight:

British Youth Opera: La Rondine/Flight plays at Sadler's Wells
Rosebery Avenue, London, EC1R 4TN

British Youth Opera returns to Sadler's Wells alongside Southbank Sinfonia with more of the UK's very best emerging operatic talent in two new productions. This September, the company stages two fascinating and very different operas. Puccini's bittersweet romantic comedy La Rondine is set in Paris during the Belle Epoque. Performed to music of exceptional lyrical beauty, it tells the story of two pairs of lovers as they deal with affairs of the heart, commitment and renunciation.

Jonathan Dove's hugely successful modern masterpiece, Flight, first performed in 1998, receives its first London performances by British Youth Opera. Set in a busy airport and inspired by a true story, the opera presents a group of people whose lives happen to intersect on one particular day. Their interactions and relationships are illuminated by Dove’s pulsating and thrillingly colourful score.
